Where machinery is concerned the human being is very inquisitive. The danger is there is always someone out there who thinks or decides that they know more than the manufacturer. If you put a switch on a wall and a big sign beside it saying ‘Don’t touch’ the law of averages is that someone will touch it.
Going back to creation Eve was told not to touch the apple and look what happened. Had she done what she was told we would all be partying 24/7 and flying around with wings on us.
The inquisitive nature in all of us is a danger and that even extends to animals. As the saying goes ‘Curiosity killed the cat……..’ |

Problems that happened in our Tool Hire.
A customer came into our tool hire with a ride on lawnmower that was not working right and wanted it repaired. He said it was spluttering and banging. It sounded like dirty fuel.
The customer came back a week later to collect the lawnmower after it had been repaired and asked what was wrong with it. The mechanic told him that it was dirty fuel. The customer said no way and got pretty annoyed. He said that there was no way he would put dirty fuel in his lawnmower. Our mechanic had kept some of the fuel out of the lawnmower in a bottle for him to see and as they were disucssing that it smelt a bit like diesel his young daughter came over to the counter and asked her daddy what was wrong with the lawnmower. When she heard them talking about diesel she said ‘Ah Daddy, you didn’t put diesel in it again’ – Out of the mouth of babes. |

Here are some examples of mishaps that we know
happened.
A lot of problems are related to fuel - dirty
cans, cans not being properly marked, diesel being put into
petrol engines, petrol mix not being used in two stroke engines.
The worst example is Domestos being used in a lawnmower which
burned the carburettor beyond repair on a new machine. There
was also a lawnmower returned and it was full of 7up.
People not following manufacturers instructions
- diamond blades or road saw blades are charged by the millimetre
of blade used. The blade wears faster if you do not use water
to reduce friction. A customer decided that he would use waste
oil instead of water. The oil created a lot of smoke and caused
the grit to stick to the blade and it wore a new blade away
in two hours. Had he used water as was recommended the blade
would have lasted for twelve months.
These are just some examples where proper
thought or planning has not been put into the job before the
work commences. These mistakes cost the customer money. The
reasoning behind this ad is to make you aware what can happen
when you do not follow simple guidelines.
Plan it and if you don't know just ask - it's
your money.
