May Bank Holiday Fundraising Event
The start of our fundraising commenced when we had help
from O'Reilly Bros Concrete, Kingscourt in the making
of two concrete blocks which are located in each store.
Orla Morris a valued employee of Super Valu Crossmaglen
representing the staff and the community of Crossmaglen
places her hand print in the block. Representing the
staff of Londis Plus and the community of Carrickmacross
is Lisa Martin who is another valued employee of the
company. When fundraising is complete hopefully in August
2008 these two blocks will be transported and concreted
into the walls of the deep well in Mbagwa village.
This will show the power of our communities in Carrickmacross
and Crossmaglen for all to see.
A sponsored walk which took place on 5 May from Carrickmacross
to Crossmaglen. We wish to pay tribute to all our staff
who took part big or small.
June Bank Holiday Fundraising Event
For this bank holiday week end we are planning something
simple that will be effective. Our fundraising is focused
towards clean water - The start of life and the oil
of the future. Our tasks are as follows:
- 3 shallow wells for Wita village
- 3 shallow wells for Kampala village and
- 1 deep well for Mbagwa village
This is a major structure which will result in deep
bore, high output. These 7 wells will provide clean
water for an estimated 12,000 people who are currently
carrying unclean water a distance of between two or
three miles per day.
Every penny raised will go directly towards the project.
Our target is to raise €30,000. On the last bank
holiday we raised €1,500 which is a great start.
€28,500 to go. We hope to have this amount raised
by the end of August 2008. At which time building blocks
will be taken out to Tanzania and built into the pumping
station as a constant reminder of the power of our communities
in Carrackmacross and Crossmaglen for all to see.
We will make a difference.
Thank You.
